Mine Closure Project Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Pangea Minerals Limited – Buzwagi Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Mine Closure Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Closure Project are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to Barrick - Buzwagi Gold Mine, Health and Safety standards, policies and procedures.

Reporting to: Closure Manager

Work Schedule: 6 weeks on 3 weeks off

Duration: 5 years

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review of the approved mine closure plan including the TSF and waste rock dump closure designs to understand the detailed objectives, designs and activities required to effectively close mine.
  • Identify closure activities in terms of objectives, principal work streams, personnel, equipment, timelines, and budgets.
  • Provide liaison between the Mine Closure Manager, technical disciplines as well as vendors involved in the closure project.
  • Responsible for closure schedule preparation & regular updates, pre-planning and resource forecasting for the mine closure & rehabilitation activities.
  • Supervise vendors involved with mine closure to ensure their performance and timely completion of tasks according to the schedule and set KPIs.
  • Manage the closure team resources and training and develop extensive closure project experience.
  • Ensure effective systems and procedures are in place to execute the closure activities.
  • Manage costs associated with closure activities under your supervision.
  • Minimize costs while ensuring that all company and regulatory obligations are met.
  • Coordinate, control and monitor the implementation of environmental and safety standards and procedures to minimize accidents and incidents during the active mine closure period.
  • Provide technical advice in planning, scheduling and prioritizing the heavy equipment usage in all Mine Closure activities and works to optimize the utilization.
  • Provide advice in coordinating, controlling and monitoring the equipment usage to ensure high mechanical availability and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance for operating heavy equipment in specific condition, in order to optimize the heavy equipment utilization.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • (10) Years of experience in Mining Mine Closure/Reclamation Planning and Execution.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • General knowledge of mining industry and mine closure concepts.
  • The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills and CAD software usage. Surpac knowledge is essential. Knowledge of ArcGIS and other related software is also essential.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Excellent language (English), report writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to explain designs and plans clearly.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Confident decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Sufficient knowledge and ability to speak intelligently within the various disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Highly proactive and achievement oriented.

Control Room Operator

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Control Room Operator to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Process Plant department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Reporting to: First Line Leader Process Plant Operations

Work Schedule: 7 Days Day Shift / 7 Days Night Shift / 7 Days Off

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Constantly proactive in ensuring prime product protection.
  • To ensure compliance to Operational Safe Work Procedures, Process and Metallurgical guidelines and directives while operating the CIL plant.
  • Monitor and maintain control room functions to optimize the Process Plant throughput, reagent dosing, recovery with minimum cost.
  • Maintaining clear lines of communication with Process Operations, Metallurgical and Maintenance personnel to ensure timeous response to operational issues.
  • Maintaining clear lines of communication with Emergency and Medical Staff in case of Emergency.
  • Immediate response and action to underperforming circuits from control room monitoring, minimum downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Active monitoring all plant operating parameters to achieve optimum recovery of metals
  • Demonstrates cleanliness and a high standard of work and keeping work space consistently clean at the start and end of shifts.
  • Ensure accurate production record keeping and ensure and timely submitted
  • To ensure compliance to Process Plant operating within set parameters and procedures
  • To assist the First Line Leader (FLL) in leading the shift and act as relief FLL.
  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Form IV Secondary education
  • FTC/Trade - Test grade 1 in mineral processing/ equivalent (I)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A3 - 5 years’ experience in Process plant operations including gravity recovery, base metals flotation and gold production
  • Control room operator experience will be advantageous

First Line Leader Process Plant Operations

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit First Line leader Process Plant Operations to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the process plant department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Reporting to: Processing Plant Foreman

Work Schedule: 7 Days Day Shift / 7 Days Night Shift / 7 Days Off

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To implement and monitor systems and take corrective action on major process plant issues
  • Correlates information obtained from reports on log sheets to effect operational changes and implement changes when required.
  • Ensures, by observation and control, that the Plant Standards are always adhered to, e.g. tonnage throughout, grinding efficiency, chemical handling, sampling procedures and gold recoveries.
  • Participate in develop of department budget and ensure expenditures are monitored within allowed budget parameters
  • Manage team members time and attendance
  • To ensure plant consumables e.g. Reagents are availability for the shift while controlling consumption and supplies.
  • To ensure production set targets of are achieved
  • To facilitate the process to ensure available resources of including manpower and equipment are available at all times while reducing plant downtime
  • Coordinate and adherence to plan for planned and unplanned maintenance shutdown
  • To prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance report and ensure to complete according to site schedule
  • Ensure Performance reviews of Team Members are completed on timely manner and performance review records are captured.
  • Ensure Team Members have a Role Development Plan and they achieve their milestones on the plan
  • Ensure incidents are reported and investigated completed according to the company policies and procedure.
  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • FTC/Trade - Test grade 1 in mineral processing/ equivalent
  • Attended Leadership Courses
  • Valid Driving Licence

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in processing plant
  • 5 years progressive supervisory experience
  • Demonstrate ability to achieve manage crew
  • Exposure to automation.
